Hi my name is Nick and I am the founder of Catch The Bunny Syndicates. I thought it would be a good idea to tell you a little something about myself and why I have created this site.

I have been living here in Australia for nearly 2 years now, I am originally from England. I have always been a keen racing fan. Whether it be greyhounds or horses, and always hoped one day to own my own dog or horse. As the months have gone by I have grown to love the greyhounds more and more so I decided I wanted to be more involved in this exciting sport.

I purchased my first greyhound just over a year ago and I have bought 2 more since. There is a lot more behind the scenes in this industry than you may think. It's not just buy a dog and go and watch it at the track. There are breeders and trainers involved who nurture the dog as its growing up putting their experience into every dog they care for.

I soon found out there are ups and downs to the sport, not everything runs smoothly but on the other hand owning your own dog is similar some would say as having a child. You constantly want to know how they are developing at every stage. Has it grown? What's the temperament like? What has it run in it's latest trial? All this and we haven't even got to the track yet!

As my own dogs are still just under racing age I still haven't had the feeling of my dog winning a race. I think the feeling would be similar to the fulfilling pride felt by parents watching their children participate at a schools sports day.

That is why I got into the sport, because I have a passion for it. Now I will tell you why I started Catch The Bunny.

It's no secret that over the last 20 or so years greyhound racing in most countries has seen a big downturn in people getting involved in some way or another, either as a patron just going to the track or as dog owners. I believe the main reason for this is T.V coverage. I myself like to just sit and watch a nights racing at home with $30 in my betting account picking quinellas and trifectas. What I should really be doing is supporting my local tracks by going down to the track with my money and putting my bets on there.

The more people go to their local tracks the more there will be a snowball effect. This in turn will generate income and put some money back into the industry. Yes, T.V rights do fund clubs but most clubs used to fund themselves through having full stadiums, which included all the family enjoying their night out. If you go to tracks these days you see that people just aren't there, where have they gone? I believe they still love the sport they have just forgotten what makes the spirit of the sport.

What makes the sport I believe is that greyhound racing lends itself to all walks of life from business men to the working class families and the attitude they have on life, the easy going friendly nature and wanting to share experiences with people. Having fun with all the family and a good day out. This is greyhound racing or it was and if we don't do something soon the atmosphere of those past days may be lost forever.

We are entering a new era and this is syndication. It is not cheap to own a greyhound by yourself, I know, and through syndication you can get involved for as little as $300. It doesn't matter if you own 90% or 5% of a dog because you still have all the excitement and exhilaration of being a full owner.

I believe syndication sites are going to be so important over the next 5 years in driving people back into the sport. For every greyhound that is syndicated there will be new owners and new people wanting to go to the track. If 10 people in a syndicate went to watch their greyhound at the track that is 10 people buying drinks, food, programs and betting. Without realising these 10 people have contributed to the cash flow of that particular track.

Back home in England at my local track I can go on a Tuesday night and there would be a crowd of between 1000-2000 people (more at weekends). These crowds can be achieved again here if we all do our bit every so often and turn the T.V off and go to our local track.

So if you love the sport as I do take the plunge and get involved. You won't know what your'e missing if you sit on the fence.

Cheers Nick Emery - Catch The Bunny Syndicates

Once the pup reaches 16 months there will be training fees to pay. The training fees on average are $300 per month plus any trial payments (trials vary from $10-$15 per trail on average). So if you own a 10% share your fees will be $30 per month on average.

This is not taking into account any winnings the dogs generates from racing. So any prize money generated will first cover training fees and then any surplus divided between the shareholders.

Catch The Bunny will buy a few greyhounds for syndication that are already at racing age. Generally we will pick up young dogs who have shown ability in a limited number of starts and with our experienced trainers we feel will show improvement.

It is Catch The  Bunny's aim to get syndications in all states across Australia. When a dog is up for syndication it will state in the advert where the dog is expected to run giving members the right information to decide which syndication to invest in.

Catch The bunny will send regular emails to owners with reports from trainers and breeders. We will upload photos of your dogs in the photo gallery section of the site.

When a dogs racing career is over Catch The Bunny will look to find a good home for the dog or be placed in the greyhound adoption program. Catch The Bunny will provide some syndications with adoption in mind. Please see the main menu section Adoption Program Shares.

The initial costs will cover all the dogs rearing needs up to the age of 13 months including worming and vaccinations. The breaking in fee will be covered in the initial cost as well as the next 2 months of spelling. This means all costs are covered until the dog reaches 16 months of age.

Note: EMERGENCY vet costs and TRANSPORT costs could apply.

Catch The  Bunny will work with well respected breeders and trainers with years of experience in the greyhound industry. We have selected a good core team which we feel will produce good results for our syndications.

Not all dogs make it to the track, this is where syndication comes into its own. Because you have split up the cost between a group there is opportunity to join more than one syndication giving you more of a chance of seeing your dog race.

If a dog doesn't make the grade there will be a decision to be made by the syndicate members of what to do next.

Catch The Bunny will look to place all dogs into good homes or with the greyhound adoption program.

Costs vary depending on the dogs ability, age and who the dog is placed with. The benefits of syndications are there are no hidden costs. Once you have paid your share stake there is no more to pay until the dog reaches racing age. However in some cases there may be a need for EMERGENCY veterinary care, if this is the case the syndicate members will be advised of the situation and it is down to them what course of action to take.

Note: If for any reason the dog is moved to another state, there may be transport fees involved.

All EMERGENCY and TRANSPORT costs are shared between all syndicate members.

Greyhound syndication is an ownership scheme between a number of people which gives greyhound fans the chance to own a dog without having the burdon of excessive costs.

Catch The Bunny Greyhound Syndications allows the following share options,  5%, 10%, 15% and 20%.
